2022 Auckland Architecture Awards Winner
Clifftops House
This generously proportioned home impressively combines the functions of an extended family dwelling and backdrop for the client’s significant body of art. Set into a coastal edge facing Rangitoto Island, the house is formed by two distinct wings with a large central garden allowing light into the space edging it. Timber screens weave their way around the house and through the spaces countering and softening its otherwise harder precast concrete forms. Despite the dramatic scale of many of its spaces and the richness of the geometries shaping them, the house nevertheless cleverly retains the feeling and possibilities of a family home.
