2022 Auckland Architecture Awards Winner
Mission Bay apartment
The interior of this 1990s townhouse has been comprehensively altered taking every possible opportunity to improve light, space and utility on each level. A beautifully detailed stair leads to the main living space at level 1, where a clever combination of a glass enclosed room, skylights and sliders creates light and aspect spanning between the harbour view to the north and a rear lane to the south. Overhead, the insertion of a beamed ceiling and a further expansion into the roof space for a loft produce a Tardis-like effect. Material finishes and colours are informed by an industrial studio aesthetic, yet are resolved into a more refined palette which sits comfortably with the recent history of the apartment.
