2019 Canterbury Architecture Awards Winner
Chen Anselmi Units
Small but perfectly formed, this 100 square metre dwelling throws down the gauntlet for suburban multi-unit living. Without a landscape or a garden to engage with, the architects turned their attention indoors, creating spaces rich with geometry, drama and airiness that are further enhanced by the clever use of colour and architectural detailing. The built-in joinery, shelves and ledges represent a careful consideration of habitation at a smaller scale – and the winding stair, a highlight, pivots through the building past windows that are perfectly placed to capture views as you ascend.
