2019 Canterbury Architecture Awards Winner
Menzies POP!
This project, a home for two architects and their young son, was clearly a labour of love and a demonstration of what can be achieved with a passionate commitment to good design. Laden with slick details and a rich material palette, the 1940s insitu concrete house has been transformed well beyond its former glory. Through clever planning, an impressive amount of programme has been squeezed into the small footprint, with the “POP! up” extension rising like a periscope to contrast with the original. This house will surely provide on-going joy as a sanctuary in which to raise a family. It will also be a valuable precedent to inspire future clients.
