2011 Wellington Architecture Awards Winner
Kimi Ora School Naenae
This school transcends its indifferent surroundings with an architecture that is both welcoming and inclusive. The light that floods into the lobby illuminates spaces connected visually across a glazed courtyard and connecting corridor. The plan, while economic in programme, demonstrates hierarchy without exclusion, achieving interior clarity. Each component, material and colour satisfies both performance and aesthetic criteria; the result is spaces that are grounded and then layered with visual and sensory delight. This is an engaging and charming building, the product of a true collaboration between client and Architect.
