2009 Nelson/Marlborough Architecture Awards Winner
Barron House
This cedar-clad family home sits well in its city fringe context. The understated, minimal form it presents to the road belies the detail and intelligence inherent in the building. The interior opens to an attractive hierarchy of spaces over three levels, deftly planned (incorporating passive solar design) to accommodate a large family. It exhibits an outstanding grasp of balance, harmony, subtle surprise and contrast between apparent lightness, solidity and strength.
