2012 Auckland Architecture Awards Winner
Horizontal House - Remuera
With a subtly curved wall that echoes the line of the street and a massive concrete volume that appears to float above a light boundary fence, this low profile house is a strong but respectful presence in its suburban neighbourhood. A toplit staircase cutting through the building’s three levels acts as a constant reference point in a house distinguished by a beautifully detailed series of well-proportioned spaces.
