Reinier de Graaf

A Dutch architect, planner, architectural theorist, writer and partner in the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). Reinier joined OMA in 1996 and has since been responsible for the design and masterplanning of projects in Western Europe, Russia and the Middle East. Reinier’s recent book is Four Walls and a Roof: The Complex Nature of a Simple Profession (Harvard University Press, 2017), a “candid account of what it is really like to work as an architect”. OMA

Jo Noero

In his work, South African architect Jo Noero enacts his belief that architecture is “a social art and as such has a responsibility to not only be useful, but also beautiful”. Jo, who has been practicing since 1984, made his name internationally during the Apartheid era by working for NGOs, Desmond Tutu and the Anglican Church on schools, community centres, churches and homes in South African townships such as Soweto. Noero Architects

Amin Taha

Amin Taha gained experience at a variety of practices, including Andris Bersins & Associates, Rick Mather Architects, Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, Chris Wilkinson Architects (later Wilkinson Eyre) and Zaha Hadid Architects before setting up Groupwork Amin Taha. As well as running the design and detailing of projects, Taha writes, teaches and lectures on architecture, sits on the RIBA National and International Awards Jury and acts as an independent consultant to property-related research groups and funds. Taha’s practice has won several British and international architecture awards, including for Barrett’s Grove, a six-storey gabled block constructed of Cross Laminated Timber and enveloped by a facade of perforated brickwork, and 15 Clerkenwell Close, which comprises eight apartments, including Taha's own home and an office for his architecture studio.

Sadie Morgan

Sadie Morgan is a founding director of London practice dRMM, winner in 2017 of the RIBA’s leading award, the Stirling Prize, for Hastings Pier. Other recent notable dRMM projects include Faraday House at the Battersea Power Station (2017), Trafalgar Place (2015), and the Athlete’s Village for the London Olympic Games (2012). Over the course of her career, Sadie Morgan has become an industry leader playing an increasingly significant role as an advocate for design and architecture. dRMM

Aljoša Dekleva and Tina Gregorič

Aljoša Dekleva and Tina Gregorič founded Dekleva Gregorič Arhitekti in 2003 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Both architects graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ljubljana and undertook further study at the AA in London. They have gone on to build an enterprising practice which combines building design, urban planning, research, exhibiting and teaching. Dekleva Gregorič Arhitekti  

Betsy Williamson

Betsy Williamson, a graduate of Barnard College and Harvard University, is co-founder of the Toronto-based practice Williamson Williamson. The small practice, which is structured to allow the pursuit research agendas that can be incorporated into its work, has been recognised by its peers through awards such the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s Emerging Architectural Practice Award and the Emerging Voices Award of the Architectural League of New York. In its early days, the studio was awarded the Professional Prix de Rome for Architecture from the Canada Council of the Arts. Wolfram Putz

Wolfram Putz, a graduate of the Technical University Braunschweig in Germany, the University of Utah, and SCI-Arc in Los Angeles, and co-founder, with Lars Krückeberg and Thomas Willemeit, of Graft, a practice conceived as a ‘label’ for architecture, urban planning, exhibition design, music and the ‘pursuit of happiness’. Graft opened its first office in Los Angeles in 1998, later opening studios in Berlin (2001) and Beijing (2004). Since then, it has been designed and managed a wide range of projects in Germany, Russia, Georgia, China, UAE, the United States and Mexico. GRAFT

Gloria Cabral

Influenced by the artistic and engineering sides of her parents, Gloria Cabral studied architecture at the Universidad Nacional de Asunción. While still a student she worked in the Paraguayan capital for the practice Gabinete de Arquitectura; since 2004 she has been a partner in the innovative and socially committed practice. “All of the work we do at the Gabinete,” Gloria says, “starts from ideas about bringing some benefit – either to the people who are going to use the buildings or to the city around them.” Gabinete de Arquitectura 

Christopher Hawthorne

Christopher Hawthorne was architecture critic of The Los Angeles Times from 2004 to 2018, when he became Chief Design Officer for the city of Los Angeles, a role created for him by Mayor Eric Garcetti. In this position Christopher advises on architecture and planning and ways to aid the creation, development and improvement of the city's public spaces.
